The Green Lion represents an alchemical concept referred to by the acronym V.I.T.R.I.O.L., Which stands for the Latin phrase “Visita Interiora Terrae Rectificando Invennies Ocultum Lapidem”: Visit the interior of the Earth, and through rectification of the soul, you will uncover the hidden stone. In alchemical philosophy, the hidden stone is also referred to as the philosopher's stone, it is the culmination of the four-fold alchemical process.
These hidden stones lay at the heart of each of us; they are our personal truths, disguised as subjective experience and opinion. They are the absolute truth of what we know, because these stones are the foundation upon which we build our lives. They are the things we realize about our lives, the accidents that we find ourselves in the middle of cleaning up, or the eureka moments that define our technique.
Our mission at Green Lion Publishing is to uncover these hidden stones by allowing individuals from all walks of life to participate in creating the guidebooks for our tomorrow. People of all religions and beliefs, and all cultural backdrops are invited to submit their work for consideration in our seasonal publication, The Hidden Stone.
Our mission is to curate and promote high quality artisanal content in the realm of the esoteric. Stories of lore are what fuel the heart of Green Lion Publishing. Stories which inform tradition, and which propel us to new creative heights, to learn from each other, and to challenge ourselves. Stories which give us techniques for mastering the world around us, for conjuring aid or for summoning vengeance. The world is vast, and there are a myriad of perspectives and fables to learn from. The Mission of Green Lion Publishing is to bring these fables to the page, to include, to teach, to inspire, and to preserve the misguided ramblings of people who were so close to getting it right.
Join us next Spring as we embark on our maiden voyage, the Hidden Stone journal of the Esoteric. We are interested in all voices, and in making sure that the content of this journal becomes a conversation where we can each learn valuable truths from each other. If you are interested in submitting a piece of writing, please read the Submission Guidelines, where you will learn more about what types of content we are seeking, and how you can submit your work.
Thank you, one and all.
